Voter Guide Candidate Spotlight:

Bob Dutton

Bob Dutton

Bob Dutton – San Bernardino County Assessor/Recorder

In 2014, Senator Bob Dutton (Ret.) was elected as San Bernardino County’s Assessor-Recorder, and appointed County Clerk, representing more than two million residents from the largest county in the contiguous United States. In 2018, Assessor-Recorder Dutton ran for re-election unopposed and is currently serving his second term.

Assessor-Recorder Dutton manages a department of over 250 individuals tasked in a number of essential government functions that includes annually assessing all taxable property in the county currently worth over $221 billion. Assessor-Recorder Dutton also oversees the recording and preservation of millions of public documents, among many other services. Under his leadership, the office of the San Bernardino County Assessor-Recorder-Clerk has been nationally recognized receiving numerous awards from the National Association of Counties.

Assessor-Recorder Dutton has spent over 40 years in the fields of real estate investment and management, and over two decades serving in various locally elected positions. He served on the Rancho Cucamonga City Council from 1998-2002 before being elected to the 63rd Assembly District in 2002. In 2004, he was elected to the California State Senate where he served as Senate Minority Leader, Vice-Chair of Rules Committee, Vice-Chair of the Budget and Fiscal Review Committee, and member of Appropriations.

Always aware of the importance of giving back to the community, Assessor Dutton has served on numerous community and civic organizations including local chambers of commerce. As a coach for his daughter’s fast-pitch softball team, he mentored dozens of students who later received scholarships to attend college. He proudly served in the Army Reserve, was a member of the California Air National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1974.

A native of Nebraska, he moved to California in 1969. He is married to Andrea Guillen, a fourth generation Chino resident who is a retired Professor and Program Director of Radiology at Chaffey Community College. They have a daughter, Kara, who works in the banking industry.

Members Corner – Can Any Member Submit a Write-up for Members Corner?

By: Karla Talley – Executive Director

By now you have all seen the new newsletter section titled “Members Corner”. I wanted to take a moment and encourage all of our members to submit content for this section as the inspiration hits you.

The short answer to the question “Can any member submit a write-up for Member’s Corner?” is YES!

The longer answer is, while every member of IEGO can submit a write up for addition to the newsletter in our “Members Corner” section, there are some basic requirements to doing this, which I have summarized below.

  1. Keep it relatively short, no more than 600 words.
  2. Keep it related to Our mission, the Second Amendment and/or Firearms related. This can be something you have seen in the local news, a product/shop/range/training review or “Something I wish I knew….” type article.
  3. If writing about a news article, please keep it local to the Inland Empire and relevant to Second Amendment or firearms related or an opinion only piece about a national news article.
  4. Keep it Clean! No foul language or rude remarks directed at any person(s) or group. We are above that in IEGO. We can defend our rights without foul language and rude remarks. We use facts and statistics to back our arguments and although I understand being passionate, we NEED to be professional and logical, not emotional and angry. Remember: This is not a “Venting” section. It is meant as a section to talk to other members, get them thinking, and give them information.
  5. All submissions are to be sent to [email protected] and will be published in the newsletter at the discretion of the Executive Director.
  6. Some formatting and rewording may need to be done before it can be published in the newsletter and this is also at the discretion of the Executive Director (but let me assure you, if there are too many changes to your submission, I will reach out to you first to review the changes, so as not to change the tone and intent of what you originally submitted).

Inland Empire Gun Owners Proudly Endorses These Great Candidates!

Election season is right around the corner! It’s time to start preparing to support these proponents of the Second Amendment with your time and your money.

We have worked hard to vet these candidates so you can be confident that they support and fight for your Second Amendment rights. Find out more about our vetting process HERE.

BLOG: A Bump in the Night – Burglars, Home Invaders, and the More Likely Things

By: Joe Drammissi

Bump-in-the-Night_99373574

We’ve all had this experience. You’re in bed, asleep or almost so when you hear a sound. When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter. It is the season.

The first question is probably “did I really hear that?”. So, you wait for confirmation. Sometimes the sound is such that you can skip that question and go right to “what the hell was that?”. There are several possibilities. Hopefully you’ve thought about all of them, and you have a plan. Let’s consider the possibilities.

A Bump is Just a Bump

Sometimes a bump is just a bump. Houses make all sorts of noises, the older the house the greater the variety of noises, sort of like old men. Anyone with pets, especially cats, has probably awoke to the sound of something being knocked off a counter or shelf by pets playing at 3:00 AM.

Occasionally things fall by themselves. A friend was startled out of a deep sleep by the sound of breaking glass. After a very exciting couple of minutes, he discovered that the glass cover of a ceiling lamp had come loose and crashed to the floor.

Become a #NotMeIE Ambassador

NOTME_IE_logo_black

The #NotMeIE program is a mentor/mentee referral service run by women for women to help them:
  • Obtain firearms training
  • Get assistance in choosing and purchasing a firearm
  • Obtain a CCW
How does the program work?
A potential client can fill out the application for service on our website. Once received, the project manager reviews the application and assigns the client to an Ambassador. An Ambassador then contacts the client to begin the process of walking them through whatever their firearm needs are. After the client has been successfully helped, their case is closed, and the Ambassador is given a new client to work with. Some of our Ambassadors are also NRA certified trainers. They are very knowledgeable in all aspects of firearms training and purchasing. IEGO also offers an online CCW seminar once a month. Check the IEGO website for upcoming dates. If you are an experienced gun owner and are interested in becoming an Ambassador for the #NotMeIE program please reach out to Karla at [email protected]
